Two-dimensional phase unwrapping with statistical models for nonlinear optimization

The authors propose a new 2D phase unwrapping framework based on maximum a posteriori probability estimation. That is, they design an algorithm which approximately maximizes the conditional probability of its unwrapped solution given the observable wrapped phase, image intensity, and interferogram coherence.
