Fluid-filled cables. Repair, refurbish or replace

Eastern Electricity operates a large fluid-filled cable network. The system has been very reliable with very few electrical failures, but is expensive to maintain in comparison to systems of cables with solid insulation. This paper summarises the experience of the management of an ageing fluid-filled cable network in Eastern Electricity, during a five year period.
