Analysis of application of magnetic flux controller with phase-locked loop for synchronous reluctance drive

This paper presents a model of synchronous reluctance motor with digital control system and simple open loop flux estimator. The angular position of the stator flux linkage and rotational speed are derived from the integration of the back-EMF using phase locked loop (PLL). The advantages of this approach are considered. The model takes into account the discreteness of the controller and some errors in estimating the voltage vector that arise in such a control system. The features of the motor operation without position/flux feedback as well as with a simple open-loop flux estimator are considered. The model can be used to design a synchronous reluctance motor with more complex flux estimators. The model can also be useful for educational purposes, since the structure of the control system in the model corresponds to the real structure of the AC drive microprocessor control.
