The maintenance scheduling in deregulated power systems with operational and practical constraints

The maintenance scheduling of generating units is one of the most important issues in power system operation and planning. In a traditional and vertically integrated power system, the maintenance planning carries out by the system operator and proclaimed to the generating units for implementation. But in the electricity market environment, these plans usually perform by each company subject to maximize their own profits because the generating companies (GENCOs) are independent private entities. However, the independent system operator (ISO) has a supervisory role in order to monitor security vulnerability. So far, various methods are proposed to conduct these plans. In this paper, the Benders decomposition technique is employed in optimization problem that is simulated in GAMS software, and the maintenance schedule is evaluated for the IEEE RTS-24 bus standard network.
