Crowbar protection of grid connected double fed induction generator with variable speed wind turbine

Now a days the use of Double fed induction generator is suitable for grid connected variable speed wind turbine due to several advantages. But if there are any disturbances in the grid then the turbine must be connected to the grid and it will supply voltage support after and during any fault in grid occur. So due to this a protection scheme is required. In this paper modelling and simulation of control strategy as well as crowbar protection circuit was developed in grid connected wind turbine and working of the protection circuit in voltage sag due to gird fault is developed in PSCAD/EMTDC to avoid the over current at the time of fault in the rotor to improve the ride through fault capability and maintain the system stability.
