Joint image compression and encryption algorithm based on SPIHT and crossover operator

In this paper, we propose a new method of image encryption and compression based on the crossover operator and SPIHT encoding combining. We firstly decompose the image by using integer wavelet transform, and use crossover operator to scramble the wavelet coefficients, and then SPIHT algorithm are applied to generate compression code stream. Additionally, the generated code stream is encrypted by using the chaotic sequence of chaotic system. The proposed joint compression and encryption algorithm is showed that it has large compression ratio and good encryption result that can resist against common attacks by means of the security analysis and experiment results.
