A triangular active charge injection scheme using a resistive current for resonant power supply noise suppression

This paper proposes a triangular active charge injection using a resistive current, which suppresses resonant power supply noise and keeps the core supply voltage constant by injecting triangular amount of charge into the supply line of the LSI in response to the current consumption of the core circuit. Our circuit is composed of three components, a voltage drop detector, an injection controller circuit and a cancelling resistor circuit is proposed and implemented. The measurement results show that the proposed method based on theoretical analysis reduces 24% of the original noise amplitude. Our circuit consumes 4.5mW in steady state.
