Laser-ablated clad grating sensors for reinforcement corrosion measurement in wet conditions

Laser-ablated Clad Grating is applied for the first time to monitor corrosion of reinforced concrete structure in wet conditions. In this study, the galvanostatic method is executed to speed up the entire process of corrosion in a controlled environment. Red-shifts in the cladding resonant wavelengths are observed in the course of the corrosion process and the wavelength shifts of these resonances are used to monitor corrosion.
