Modeling time-sensitive swarm dynamics

Swarm behavior is a source of inspiration for the computational intelligence community. Animals perform particular tasks in their swarm and complete them within an adequate period of time. We provide a probabilistic model to this time-sensitive swarm dynamics. In modeling, the frequency of mutual interaction among individuals predicts when and how many individuals commit to completing the tasks. In simulation, we apply the model to ant moving. This real-world swarm behavior is very popular, because ants move from their old nest to a new nest in a very much smooth way. The simulation results of our model are consistent with various empirical observations by external ant experts in behavioral biology.
