A miniaturized metamaterial wideband bandpass filter with a notch-band

In this paper, a miniaturized metamaterial (MTM) wideband bandpass filter with a notch-band is presented. The proposed filter is configured with a symmetrical pi-type structure, interdigital capacitor (IDC) and two L-shaped stub with via. The electrical size of proposed filter is 0.274λ

, at the center frequency of 4.59 GHz. The designed filter is miniaturized and also delivers excellent scattering parameters with transmission coefficient of -0.20 dB and input reflection coefficient below -12 dB through the entire working range. The -3 dB fractional bandwidth is 104 % from 2.21 GHz to 6.98 GHz. The designed filter offers a group delay between 0.2ns to 0.5 ns within passband. It is suitable for WLAN, WiMAX, Bluetooth applications.
