Modal analysis of a rib optical waveguide with trapezoidal cross section by variable transformed Galerkin method

Galerkin's method with the sine basis function is applied for accurate analysis on the mode propagation problem in integrated optical waveguides. The method is based on a tangent-type variable transformation at spatial coordinates. The dispersion relations and modal field distributions of guided waves in rib waveguides with trapezoidal cross sections are obtained.
