Smart single-phase battery storage system

The continuous development of battery technologies (especially Li-Ion, LiFePO
₄
) and photovoltaic systems allows the production of Battery Storage System (BSS) in the range of few kW up to the MW. BSS is primarily intended to the grid stabilization and peak-load coverage. However, BSS can be also used as an independent power source (with respect to macrogrid) and operate in the island mode. This paper describes the basic architecture and features of the single-phase BSS with smart control, monitoring and communication systems.
