Combined power electronic converter for simultaneous operation of several renewable energy sources

The paper deals with the special power electronic converter which allows simultaneous operation of several different power sources. The sources are AC and DC generators, e.g. wind power generator and photovoltaic source. The DC source is connected to the neutral point of three-phase generator and the inverter acts as a DC-DC boost converter, injecting photovoltaic's energy into the DC bus. The algorithm for valves' switching is developed and simulation results are given. Special control algorithm for inverter's valves, which must have two zero states, provides simultaneous regulation of power from both AC and DC sources. This makes it possible to employ two different sources at lower cost. Analytical dependencies are derived for calculation of optimal operation modes.
