Improvement of the accuracy of the microstrip-to-waveguide transition model using measured loss tangent at 76.5 GHz

The accuracy of the microstrip-to-waveguide transition (MWT) simulation model near 76.5 GHz is shown to increase by using the estimated loss tangent of the dielectric substrate. The loss tangent is estimated by measuring the attenuation through two microstrip lines with different lengths connected between a pair of MWT's in a back-to-back configuration. The approach is validated by comparing the simulated and measured results.
