Detection of distributed targets in Pareto clutter

In this paper, we analyze the performances of the Cell Averaging based on Lookup Tables (CA-LT) detector considering distributed targets embedded in Pareto distributed clutter. Assuming that the clutter parameters are not a priori known, the detector's structure is associated to an estimation approach that estimates the clutter parameters. The latter are used to select the suitable threshold factor among the pre-stored threshold factors in the Lookup Tables. Different Multiple Dominant Scattering (MDS) centers models are considered for modeling the target energy. Detection performances of the (CA-LT) are analyzed for different couples of clutter parameters and MDS models using Monte Carlo Simulation.
