Lightning impulse withstand of a gas-insulated line filled with N/sub 2//SF/sub 6/

This paper is devoted to the experimental study of dielectric withstand of gas-insulated transmission lines (GIL) filled with SF/sub 6//nitrogen mixtures. A typical gas-insulated busbar including conical spacers is tested under lightning impulse. Results show that equivalence can be demonstrated between pure SF/sub 6/ and mixtures with respect to the total pressure and the rate of SF/sub 6/.
