Some basic electrical properties of thermoplastic insulators for eco-friendly power cable

The crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE) has most widely been used for the power cable insulating material due to its outstanding properties such as electrical breakdown and mechanical strength. However, XLPE is unrecyclable when disposed after replacement and demolishing because it becomes thermosetting through cross-linked process. In this paper, we investigated some basic electrical properties such as AC breakdown strength, water treeing, accelerated life test(ALT) and space charge distribution measurement of eco-friendly insulating materials in comparison with conventional XLPE.
