Small signal cell stability with focus on inter-cell oscillations in the web-of-cells framework

The paper aims at describing observables used in small signal stability assessment based on Energy-Sorted Prony's method focusing at area and inter-area level of the power system. Presented research studies are based on a new way of power system operation, namely Web-of-cell concept, devised within FP7 IRP ELECTRA. The project is aiming at ensuring conceptual E-market design and future power system 2030+ control solutions. An innovative approach for frequency and voltage control is investigated, with reference to future power system scenarios characterized by massive amounts of distributed energy resources. Such a system requires réévaluation of small signal stability assessment methods, which this paper addresses from the perspective of selected observables.
