A noise reduction algorithm based on EMD and wavelet for FBG-FP static-strain sensor

A static-strain FBG-FPs sensor with high resolution based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and wavelet algorithm is proposed. The FBG-FPs are interrogated by a narrow-linewidth fiber laser which is driven by an optical single sideband (SSB-SC) modulator. Adaptive basis functions which are denoised by wavelet algorithm can be extracted from two FBG-FPs' reflection spectra by EMD. Adaptive basis functions can be used to reconstruct the reflection spectra. The relative wavelength difference of the reconstructed reflection spectra is calculated. A minimum static-strain resolution of 0.42 nε is achieved.
