Protective chemical gloves with end of service life indication — A conceptual view

In this paper, we describe a novel concept for the realization of protective chemical gloves with end of service life indication in acidic and bases aqueous solutions. It consists in “inserting” a pH indicator layer based on bromophenol blue, surfactant and viscosity intensifying agent in between a top and a bottom polymeric layer of the glove. The bottom polymeric layer near the skin of the user is 10% thick with respect to top polymeric layer. Depending on pH value of aqueous solution, the top surface of glove will change to yellow for pH < 3, a multitude of colors for 34.6.
