All-SiC 5 kW/50 kHz three-phase hybrid rectifier with reduced input current harmonics

This paper provides conclusions on design and laboratory tests of a hybrid rectifier prototype which employs the newest generation of SiC transistors and diodes. For the presented hardware prototype the AC-DC efficiency is about 98%. Based on simulation analysis and the practical realization pros and cons of this topology were identified. It should be noted that hybrid rectifiers importance is growing because of their unique features such as: its natural short circuit robustness and protection therefore a dead time is not needed. Moreover, these features are available with a relatively simple control method.
