Methods for d-/q-axis saturation stator-to-rotor mutual inductance of salient-pole synchronous machine

To calculate the d-/q-axis stator-to-rotor mutual inductances considering the saturation and magnetic field distribution, two improved methods are developed, one using the product of the per-pole fundamental flux times the effective turns to get the mutual flux linkage; the other obtaining the mutual flux linkage from integral of the element magnetic potential in the range of corresponding winding. Then the mutual inductance will be obtained by the mutual flux linkage over the corresponding current in every step of time-stepping finite-element method (TSFEM). Both the methods are implemented in a 10 KW experimental salient-pole synchronous machine. The calculation results of two methods are close to each other by comparing in aspect of the harmonic-components of flux density and mutual flux linkage. The magnetizing inductances of the machine calculated by one of the methods are closer to the experimental data than the design values in unsaturation and saturation, to prove the methods.
