Providing telecommunication services to antarctic stations

Today the continent of Antarctica is the only uninhabited and undeveloped continent on Earth. Currently meteorological, oceanographic and geological scientific reseaches are conducted on the continent supporting by state target programs of many countries, including Ukraine. Therefore, the need of communication in the Antarctic is growing fast with the high rates of scientific activities on the continent. Providing high-quality telecommunication services with high bandwidth will allow timely and precisely exchange of scientific information for further processing and research. The paper presents an analysis of the current state of telecommunications in Antarctica and possible ways to improve their on Ukrainian Antarctic station, especially in the broadband Internet.
