Analysis of laser polished line formation part 2: Simulation

This study is focused on the development and validation of a 3D CFD model capable to simulate the formation and growth of the laser track during laser polishing of H13 steel. The model incorporates several different modes of heat transfer as well as temperature-dependent material properties. The model has been experimentally validated and can be used to predict the effect of various process parameters such as laser power and scanning speed on the molten pool geometry.
