SAR optimization for wideband hyperthermia treatment system

This paper presents optimization of specific absorption rate (SAR) for wideband hyperthermia treatment system based on genetic algorithm (GA). A wideband multichannel hyperthermia system is proposed for enhancing energy localization. This model is developed by incorporating frequency dependent tissue properties of human head to be able to reflect a realistic approach of treating malignant tissues during hyperthermia process. The optimization tool is invoked to study SAR optimization for narrow and wideband frequency of operation of the proposed hyperthermia model. Results obtained suggest the potential of adopting wideband SAR optimization technique for effective hyperthermia treatment system.
