Rain attenuation analysis at 84 GHz

The use of the ITU-R model for attenuation prediction at high frequency bands has not been effectively proven. In the following described experiment, the W band frequency, focusing on the 84 GHz frequency of operation, is of interest. The ITU-R model for rain attenuation is tested over an experiment conducted in the region of Albuquerque, New Mexico during the monsoon season that spans from July till October and within which the rain regime in Albuquerque is distinguished. This experiment showed that the ITU-R model used as provided, under-estimates the rain attenuation for the corresponding experiment, and thus cannot be used to provide accurate predictions.
