Experiment investigation of 0.13THz folded waveguide oscillator

A 0.13THz 6W folded waveguide oscillator (FWO) is experimentally investigated for compact high-power terahertz radiation source. Because of absolute instability near the band edges, the tube may fall into oscillation when the beam current is sufficiently high. The output characteristics of oscillator is examined by using simulation code. The prototype tube has been fabricated and tested. The experimental result is obtained the maximum continuous wave output power about 6W at 0.13THz in operating voltage 15.8 kV and 28 mA beam current. The electronic tunable bandwidth is only about 1GHz in the range of 0.129THz ~ 0.13THz.
