Diagnosis on concrete structures in-situ with non-destructive testing: Sonic auscultation & rebond hammer

In a management system of the quality of concrete in construction sites, a destructive test is always present in the quality assurance procedure (QAP) to assess concrete strengths of the structure (column, beam, insole ... etc), if the resistance measured by laboratory crushing of the cylinders is greater than what was provided in the study phase, we say that there satisfaction results and the construction schedule continues in a normal manner, otherwise the concrete presents a defect, and before taking a decision, it must pass through a non-destructive testing in-situ by use of any means NDT (Non Destructive Testing), usually you do an audit with a rebound hammer or a sonic auscultation. In this paper, we will present the application of these two methods on a real case, these are reinforced concrete beams of the buildings that are being built, and to confirm the crushing results found in civil engineering laboratory.
