A combined detection technique based on DBS and HRRP

In the case of an air-to-ground radar scanning the interested area and detecting stationary targets, the detection range is severely restricted due to strong ground clutters. This paper presents a detection technique based on a combination of Doppler beam sharpening (DBS) and high range resolution profile (HRRP). The detection range is increased by employing DBS to obtain a two-dimensional (2-D) image in long range and using HRRP to obtain a one-dimensional (1-D) profile in close range. The process of the combined detection and the imaging theory is introduced and the aliasing of adjacent targets from 2-D to 1-D is analyzed emphatically.
