Matched filter based integer frequency offset estimation in OFDM systems

In this paper a preamble aided integer frequency synchronization scheme for OFDM system is proposed. Here the estimation of the integer part of the carrier frequency offset (CFO) is addressed. This algorithm is operated in the frequency domain. The proposed algorithm estimate the integer frequency offset (IFO) by utilizing a matched filter. The performance of the proposed method is investigated by means of probability of failure to detect IFO in the presence of multipath Rayleigh fading channel, additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and the fractional frequency offset (FFO). Through simulation it is shown that the proposed scheme has a significantly improved probability to detect IFO than other existing methods.
