Analysis of the finite-impulse-response (FIR) filters implementation in the modeling of the single-mode optical fiber

We analyze the impact of the sampling rate and the length of the truncated fiber response on the numerical accuracy of the calculated output signal from the 1.55 /spl mu/m single-mode optical fiber. Proper adjustment of these parameters enables a relatively accurate calculation of the fiber output response and efficient and optimized calculation time.
