Modifiying Gillingham's model for eye level blood pressure drop: tailoring the model to individual and incorporating effects of protection mechanisms

Gillingham's model is a linear representation of Eye-Level, Blood Pressure Drop (ELBP) under acceleration (+G/sub x/) stress. Although this model is in agreement with the measured response in general and has already been successfully utilized by other researchers, it is an averaged transfer function for overall population and has been constructed for low acceleration input. However individuals respond differently to G-stress and Gillingham's Linear Model (GLM) may be improved to account for this. Moreover it may also be adjusted to have more reasonable results under high acceleration by introducing the effects of protective mechanisms, maneuvers and physiological responses. In this paper, we propose a method to modify the GLM by transformations which are functions of G-stress level and unique to the individual.
