Impulse response measurement of balanced chains of EDFA's in a recirculating loop

A simple method to measure the small-signal impulse response of balanced chains of both clamped and unclamped erbium-doped fiber amplifiers using a recirculating loop is presented, and the experimental results are checked against theory.
