The year 2017 is turning out to be significant and a transitory one for display technology. 4K, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), high dynamic range (HDR), and collapsing panel prices are all playing a part as the business of manufacturing and selling displays becomes more commoditized. Excess manufacturing capacity and slowing demand for televisions, combined with a shift to ultrahigh-definition (UHD) (
