Impact of electric Bus Rapid Transit on distribution networks: An Italian case study

This paper deals on the featured impact of the spread of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) technology in the Italian distribution networks framework. Because of its particular charging method, quick at stops and slower at terminals, an investigation of its effects on the electricity network is needed. For the purpose a methodology is firstly defined and proposed, and then a test case reproducing a realistic Italian scenario is implemented. Results of simulation tests about distribution network performances under charging conditions are commented, bringing overall considerations about the feasibility of implementation of this solution.
