Magnetic stress and vibration analysis of the permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machines

This paper studies the magnetic stress and vibration characteristic of the permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machine (PM-SynRM). Firstly, the frequency and spatial orders of radial stress are investigated by analytical equations. Then, two PM-SynRMs are designed, and their open-circuit and armature magnetic stresses are calculated by finite element method (FEM) and compared with the analysis results. The magnetic stress distribution along stator tooth is studied and vibrations under magnetic stress of different frequency are investigated. A general design rule for selecting stator and rotor slot number of PM-SynRMs is first given in this paper.
