Inertial attitude determination system designed for low-dynamics applications in low-gravity environment

The paper describes a case study of an inertial attitude determination being prepared for an ice probe on a mission on icy moon of Saturn - Enceladus. The environment of Enceladus, more precisely saying, its rotation rate and gravity acceleration perception by the inertial sensors are emulated in the laboratory. The focus of the study is to assess the influence of the Enceladus' rotation and gravity acceleration on the performance of the attitude determination algorithms. Two gyroscope technologies, FOG and MEMS, were challenged in the simulated conditions of Enceladus. Performance of the attitude determination algorithms was checked with different inertial sensors, as if they were on Enceladus. As a reference, the performance of those algorithms on the Earth is also given.
