Aircraft ballistic protection trade off studies

The paper presents some trade off studies integrated in a system engineering process designated to transform an operational need into a defined system configuration through the top-down iterative design process. The operational identified need consists in airborne human ballistic protection in operational theatre against light infantry weapons. The trade off studies focus on different armoring solutions resulted from the conceptual design.
