Investigation on current ETP courses implement in Taiwan's universities

To meet the global tourism market trend and educational need, English for Tourism Purposes (ETP) courses have been rapidly developed in Taiwan's universities for recent years. Investigation and evaluation of national-wide ETP curriculum, give directions to the educators whose learners are second language speakers of English and aspire to work in the international tourism and hospitality industry have to master English for Tourism Purposes are the purposes of this study. The results show that Taiwan's high education begins to gradually pay attention to emphasize students' employment capacities, and have been scheming out the curriculum planning of ETP courses. However, the biggest challenge is the lack of proper teachers. Among the career-oriented textbooks, the field of travel industry is very inadequate. Thus, it is the priority to develop the textbooks in the career-oriented field of travel industry. Finally, in order to enhance students' learning outcomes and competition in the future, establishing the diversified and successive ETP programs is suggested in this study.
