Enhancing sea wave potential energy with under-sea periodic arrays of cylinders

We have theoretically investigated the propagation of surface water wave over under-sea periodic arrays of cylinders. These structures determine the sea bottom topography and induce constructive interference on the surface waves, thus enhancing the potential energy. It is shown that the enhancement factor depends on two geometric parameters can be found by solving shallow water wave equations. Comparing the triangular, square and hexagonal structures, it finds that the square structure can produce more wave potential energy than the other structures, and numerical results show that the wave amplitude can be enhanced by adjusting these two parameters and the effect of enhancement on the lattice type is discussed.
