Enhanced system level/link level simulation interface for GSM

The aim of this paper is to present an enhanced simulation interface which maps system level simulation output onto link level results. The long-term carrier to interference ratio is obtained using the system level simulator, modelling path loss and shadowing. The link level model takes the carrier to interference ratio as input, and introduces the multipath fading component. This is achieved by modelling the received burst energy for the reference user and the interferers. The ratio between received burst energy and interference is finally mapped onto link level results such as raw bit error rate or frame erasures.
