Performance analysis of power control and inter-symbol interference for indoor optical wireless CDMA using chip-level detection

In this paper, the performance analysis of simple correlator and chip-level detector in optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) wireless systems for uplink is proposed. We investigate the performance in two different cases of inter-symbol interference (ISI) being negligible and the ISI degrading the receiver performance. We show that ISI due to multipath dispersion of the channel has a substantial effect on the performance of the system in the high signal power regime. Moreover, to overcome the near-far problem in the OCDMA systems, power control has been addressed as an efficient technique. The impact of applying this technique on chip-level receiver structure in OCDMA systems has been investigated. It is shown in this type of receiver, the power control does not have a significant effect on the performance of the system.
