Waveguide-fed graphene-based hybrid plasmonic patch antenna

We design a waveguide-fed graphene plasmonic patch nano-antenna for operating at the wavelength of 150μm. This antenna has some applications in receiving wave from free space but according to reciprocity theory instead of designing receiver we can design radiative antenna. We use transmission line theory and plasmonic theory for analytical part of this paper and for verification we use a 3-dimensional full-wave numerical method. The patch nano-antenna must be matchable with a graphene plasmonic waveguide to work in the broadband frequency. In this paper we achieve to a bandwidth of 57 GHz, a gain of 8.2 dB, and an efficiency of 70%. Also this work shows that electrical field is confined in the SiO
₂
layer and discusses about the confinement and propagation length of graphene waveguide. These results are achieved using Mode Analysis in COMSOL Multiphysics software. Because of the losses of graphene, the proposed device has low efficiency in comparing to the antenna in the optical frequency.
