Strengthening of human capital in geomatics, a competency-based and distance learning approach

Geomatics offers answers to socioenvironmental problems through the use of technological tools and methodologies linked to spatial analysis and representation. There is a high demand in the labor market of highly competent human capital to solve this type of problems and to influence on decision making. The aim of this work is to highlight the advantages that a Diploma program in Geomatics by competencies and distance learning can offer; such as contributing to the training of specialists with knowledge, skills, attitudes and experience in the use, analysis and representation of geospatial information. This program is based on the United States Department of Labor methodology, which in turn is supported by the knowledge of Geographical Information Sciences (GISCIENCE).
