The adoption of photovoltaic solutions for increasing energy efficiency within SMEs

The economic performance of enterprises depends to a large degree on the availability and proper management of resources, including energy. Photovoltaic systems have become one promising way to ensure a high availability of energy independent of the public power supply network and to diminish energy-related costs. The saving potential is dependent on a wide variety of factors, such as local stakeholders on the energy market, regulations, weather, energy prices and availability or financing opportunities. The current paper presents methods and tools for an estimation of the potential savings that can be achieved by the adoption of photovoltaic solutions within Romanian SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises). Furthermore, measurement results are provided from an experimental implementation within an SME.
