Properties of carbon-doped TiO2 nanofiber fabucated by electrospinning

In this study, C-doped TiO
₂
nanofibers were fabucated by electrospinning. The carbon was added into the nanofibers by using chitosan and glucose. With doped carbon from Chitosan and Glucose and fibers were calcined at 500
^o
C, and then the optical characteristics of C-doped TiO
₂
nanofibers has been changed. Nanofibers were analyzed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), UV-vis, and Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA). XRD was applied to identify phase composition of nanofibers. The morphology of nanofibers were explored by FE-SEM. Optical characteristics of absorption were measured by UV-vis. We scanned the surface and then it showed the 3D graphics of C-doped TiO
₂
nanofibers. The XRD results showed phase of C-doped TiO
₂
nanofibers were transformed successfully from rutile phase to anatase phase. The results of AFM showed the morphology of nanofibers became smoother after high-temperature heat treatment. Images from TEM and FE-SEM displayed the average size of nanofibers. UV-vis results revealed that the band-gap of TiO
₂
was shortened. Finally, we found that the surface of C-doped TiO
₂
nanofibers can be changed after the heat treatment. To sum up, the surface of nanofibers would be smoother than the one without the heat treatment.
