An AC Power Standard for Loss Measurement Systems for Testing Power Transformers

An ac power standard for high voltages and high currents for power frequencies is presented. It consists of commercially available components and is traceable to the primary standards of Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt. A dedicated correction algorithm automatically corrects the systematic errors of the components and leads to an uncertainty on the order of 40 μW/VA of the active power for voltages up to 220 kV/√3 and up to 2 kA at any power factor. It is intended to use this standard for calibrating reference measuring systems of accredited laboratories offering calibration service for calibrating industrial power transformer test systems or for manufacturers of such industrial measurement systems.
