Dual-band bandpass filter using TE01δ mode quarter cylindrical dielectric resonators

This paper demonstrates the realization of a dual-band bandpass filter using TE_01δ mode quarter cylindrical dielectric resonators. Resonator characteristics and coupling structures are illustrated as well as coupling matrix synthesis that used to realize the dual-band response. A sixth order dual-band bandpass filter was designed, simulated, and fabricated. The simulated response shows passbands at 2.565 GHz and 2.630 GHz with 3-dB bandwidth of 28 MHz and 35 MHz, respectively. It is a very compact filter without any supporting structure whereas it has good thermal resistance, relatively large power handling capability, and high performance characteristics. It can be employed in microcell/picocell LTE and 5G base stations.
