Optimal reset controller designed for induction machine drive with hardware in the loop test

The Induction machines (IM) are widely used due to its economic and robust. Field-oriented control (FOC) is used frequently in the industry. However, most FOC designed for induction motor based on the conventional PI controller. There is always a trade-off between system response time and dynamic performance. Optimal reset controller is introduced to provide a solution by resetting the system state in a fixed time interval. The reset law is designed with optimal control methods and the parameters are found by solving a Raccati equation. In this paper, the Optimal Reset Controller (ORC) is implemented to the speed loop of an induction motor drive. A simulation is made and shown that the dynamic response of the system is improved compared with conventional PI controller. A Hardware in the loop (HIL) experiment is carried out. The simulation result is verified.
