Research and pragmatic-improvement of statistical priority-based multiple access protocol

Compared to other multiple access protocols, statistical priority-based multiple access protocol (SPMA), which can be applied to long-range, high-speed, large-capacity communication system, plays an important role in the research of wireless communication. However, when SPMA counts channel occupancy, a high delay emerges and it will bring a problem that the transmission success rate will be decreased. This paper proposes a novel improved algorithm based on the traffic statistic (TSMP-MAC), which does not need the channel occupancy statistic. It can effectively control the actual channel load in a reasonable level, using each priority traffic statistic. By theoretical analysis and simulation, it can be proved that our proposed algorithm can solve the inherent problem in SPMA protocol. At the same time, TSMP-MAC can simultaneously guarantee high one-hop first-time success rate and low delay for high-priority packets.
